Friends of Mill Rise / Meeting Dates

Friends of Mill Rise Meeting held on 13th October 2008

Care Contract - Accord has been selected as the care provider for Mill Rise. Enclosed are notes on the selection process and presentations by Mike Reynolds.

Accord will attend an additional Friends of Mill Rise Meeting on Monday 24th November, which will be held at Earls Court Sheltered Housing Scheme, Miller Street at 2.30 p.m.

Mood Boards were shown to the group – they are samples of the internal finishes (wall and floor coverings and colours) that will be used in the communal areas of Mill Rise.

Parking Policy – Housing have drawn up a parking policy for Mill Rise. Blue badge holders that own cars will be allocated a space first prioritising residents with high, then medium and then low care needs. Concerns were raised about carrying shopping etc. from the car park to the entrance. It was suggested that there be a designated pick up point/drop off point near to the entrance, Suzie will take this suggestion forward.

Public Transport – the frequency of public transport will be reviewed by the bus company First 6 months after Mill Rise opens when they are in a position to evaluate the demand. There are some Section 106 monies to improve the bus stops on Lower Milehouse Lane by lowering the kerbs and providing bus shelters.

Treasurer – Lorraine is unfortunately unable to continue as Treasurer. The bank account should be opened in the next couple of weeks.

Raffle – the raffle today raised £13.00; this will go towards funding equipment for the hobbies/crafts room. There was a suggestion that a Nintendo Wii could be enjoyed by residents!

Restaurant – Carlton Catering were selected to provide the meal service but they have now withdrawn. This is something that Accord may provide.

Hairdresser – We are taking legal VAT advice on whether the hairdresser can operate to the wider community or just Mill Rise residents.

Allocation of apartments – the shared ownership applicants will be advised if their application has been approved by the multi agency assessment panel and then will be asked for their 3 preferences of apartments. Shared ownership apartments will then be allocated on a first come first served basis. Parwin will keep in touch with all applicants and will offer as much help as possible.

Rental apartments will be allocated 3 months before the scheme opens. The Deputy Neighbourhood Manager with responsibility for Allocations will be attending the meeting in January to speak to the group about the allocations process.

A move in plan will be developed so that everyone is not moving in on the same day and at the same time.
